A number of business and interest groups are fighting a provision in a House transportation bill that would end a policy of dedicating a portion of fuel taxes to mass transit, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The coalition, which includes such groups as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the AARP , is aligning to fight against a move in the House to kill the dedicated financing stream for mass transit. A Senate transportation bill does not include such a provision.
Kansas City officials hope to get $25 million in federal money this year to help pay for a $100 million downtown streetcar line..
